The flu is still here, Indiana in “widespread” category

STATEWIDE _ (NETWORK INDIANA): Even though flu season peaked in early February, and the number of people with the flu is falling, flu season is not over. Indiana is still in the “widespread” category, says officials with the Indiana State Department of Health.

The department’s latest report shows 289 people have died from the flu this flu season.

Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say Indiana is one of 17 states reporting widespread flu activity. Six more states are reporting high flu rates, still.

The CDC also reports another strain of the flu is making its way around. The “influenza b” has surpassed “influenza a”, and could be worse, especially for children. They also say you can get sick from both in the same season.
