The Weekender

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – It has been quite the week, I think we can all agree that a weekend is well deserved. Let me help you come up with some ideas to unwind with he whole family before the holidays!

Starting off strong with The Komets being in town! They’ll play the Indy Fuel on Friday and Cincinnati on Saturday, all weekend is ugly sweater night so bring out your finest uglies and head out to the rink! Purchase tickets here.

Step into a sparkling winter wonderland at PSM Icehouse with the Winter Wonder Ice Festival, a fun, festive two-day celebration filled with skating, holiday magic, and family-friendly fun. The arena transforms into a cozy seasonal destination with twinkling lights, cheerful music, and experiences for all ages. Guests can enjoy The Nutcracker on Iceperformed by the Fort Wayne Ice Skating Club, share a festive breakfast and photos with Santa, and take part in free Try Skating and Try Hockey sessions for beginners with pre-registration. The Winter Village Vendor Fair offers local shopping and holiday treats, while kids can write letters to Santa and warm up at the hot cocoa bar. Public skating sessions, including a lively Glow Skate, add to the fun, along with Fort Wayne Spacemen hockey games that bring hometown excitement to the ice. Whether you come for the skating, the shows, the shopping, or the cocoa, there’s something magical for everyone.

Santa Saturdays are back at the Botanical Conservatory! Choose from three festive dates in December to meet jolly old St. Nick and capture a holiday photo surrounded by the sparkling wonder of the “Fern’s Fairylight Express” showcase exhibit. Please note: Santa takes a cookie break from 2-2:30 p.m.

Celebrate the holidays with a night that’s equal parts nostalgic and unforgettable. It starts with a big-screen showing of the classic A Christmas Story, so you can laugh (and cringe) your way through all of Ralphie’s holiday mishaps and heartwarming moments. Then, stick around as Peter Billingsley, yes, the original Ralphie himself — takes the stage for a moderated interview and live audience Q&A. He’ll share behind-the-scenes stories, favorite memories from filming, and how the movie grew into a holiday tradition that’s lasted for decades. Fans of all ages will even get the chance to ask their own questions, making this a fun, interactive celebration of a Christmas classic everyone loves.

Get into the holiday spirit as we head into the most wonderful time of the year.
Bundle up, stay safe and most importantly be safe!
See you next week!
