FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Mattress Firm locations in Fort Wayne will avoid the closure of 700 stores nationwide.

The bedding retailer announced last week it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and would close the stores under a restructuring plan.

200 of the stores will close within a few days, and that includes three in Indiana: one in Highland, one in Indianapolis, and one in Schererville.

Mattress Firm’s CEO says the closures are targeted for certain markets where the company has too many retail locations in close proximity to each other.

Inside Indiana Business reports the restructuring process should be wrapped up within 60 days.
