FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The Three Rivers Festival Raft Race, scheduled for Saturday, July 15, has been cancelled this year due to high waters.

Due to the recently high amounts of rain, the water level has risen and the speed of the current has increased, making it potentially dangerous for the rafts.

Executive Director Jack Hammer spoke with WOWO news this morning and said safety comes first.

“From the very start we have promised that any more than just getting in water that we do not want to put people’s lives at risk,” said Hammer.
