Three Year Old Recovered from Saint Joseph River

OSCEOLA, Ind. (WOWO): Around 4 p.m. Saturday, crews responded to the Saint Joseph River at Baugo Bay for a report of a 3-year-old that had fallen into the water and had not resurfaced.

The boy was wearing a life jacket earlier while swimming, but had took it off once he got on a boat with family and friends. Witnesses heard a splash from the back of the boat and could not locate the child.
Officers recovered the three-year-old about fifty minutes later in 20 feet of water. He passed away at a hospital just before 6 p.m.
The incident is still under investigation.
