Two Bodies Pulled from Maumee River, Identified

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Police have released the identities of two people removed from a pickup truck that apparently drove off the Tecumseh Bridge and plunged into the Maumee River.

Autopsies performed Thursday afternoon identified the two bodies as 53-year-old Mark Staulters and 44-year-old Tamee Staulters.

According to police, a passerby called 911 around 7:30 a.m. Thursday to report new damage to the south end of the Tecumseh Street Bridge. Divers from the Fort Wayne Fire Department recovered the bodies around 8:00 a.m.; both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Allen County Coroner found the cause of death to be asphyxia due to drowning.

In the meantime, this incident is still being investigated.
