Two semis collide near Indiana Toll Road, one man hospitalized

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A man is in the hospital after two semi-trucks collided near the Indiana Toll Road.

At 8:20am Sunday, crews with the Orland Volunteer Fire Department were called to the 135 mile marker, eastbound of the Indiana Toll Road, for an accident involving two semis. Once firefighters arrived on the scene, they learned one of the drivers was pinned in the cab of his semi, a tanker hauling diesel fuel, which was spilling onto the roadway.

The Fremont Fire Department was called for more extrication equipment and manpower. The driver was extricated in 50 minutes and transported to a South Bend hospital by Steuben County EMS.

 

The condition of the man has not yet been released and investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash.
