UN Ambassador Nikki Haley resigns

WASHINGTON (WOWO): U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley plans to resign at the end of the year.

President Donald Trump tweeted that he has a “big announcement with my friend Ambassador Nikki Haley in the Oval Office at 10:30 a.m.” That announcement was the confirmation that Haley will be stepping down.

Haley was appointed to the U.N. post in November 2016. Trump said “she’s done a fantastic job and we’ve done a fantastic job together.”

Before she was named by Trump to her U.N. post, Haley was governor of South Carolina, the first woman to hold the post. She was re-elected in 2014. Although her name has been mentioned as a possible candidate for higher office in the future, she stressed that it would not be in 2020.
