FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne police are investing a shooting that left one man dead.

Police say shots rang out at approximately 4:19 p.m., Wednesday in the 1100 block of Fayette Drive. Once officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the drivers seat of a pickup truck in the parking lot of the Brendenwood Apartment complex.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Some local area schools were temporarily locked down until the situation was deemed safe. 

Initial reports indicate that the victim may have been shot inside his vehicle as officers uncovered shell casings in the truck.

Jeremy Webb with the Fort Wayne Police Department says it doesn't appear that this shooting is related to some other recent shootings, but he says it's too early to make that determination definitively.
