FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A proposed “upscale” supermarket for northeast Fort Wayne is a step closer to reality.

The Fort Wayne Plan commission has approved a plan to turn what used to be a Scott’s supermarket at the intersection of North Anthony and Crescent into what’s been described as an “upscale” supermarket that features a drive-through pharmacy. Dan Wire of the Northside Neighborhood Association told the Journal Gazette they think the addition would be a good direction for that neighborhood.

The next step is to get a rezoning request approved by the City Council.

The operator of the market is still a secret, but the developer has already said it’s not a Trader Joe’s, despite local demand.
