A ceremony was held Saturday at the Veterans National Memorial Shrine and Museum as organization leaders and community members gathered to dedicate a new Peace Pole at Veterans Memorial Park.

The 8-foot memorial, inscribed with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in several languages including English, Spanish, Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean, stands as a symbol of global harmony.

Peace Poles were created by Japanese activist Masahisa Goi following World War II to encourage peace around the world.

The organization says the memorial is a meaningful addition during a time of renewed hope for worldwide peace.
