Victim in Apartment Complex Shooting, Identified

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The man killed in a shooting on the city's southeast side has been identified. According to the Allen County Coroner, the victim is 21-year-old Jonte Wiley of Fort Wayne.

He was pronounced dead at Lutheran Hospital Monday night at 7:15 p.m., after being transported to the hospital from the 2100 block of Eden Street. Police say shots were fired in that area near the Village of Hanna Apartments, formerly the Eden Green Apartments.

Officers say Wiley was not a resident at the complex, but say he was involved in some type of argument that led up to the shooting.

According to autopsy results, the cause of death was gunshot wounds and the manner of death has been ruled as a homicide.

Wiley is the 15th homicide victim for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2014. Meanwhile, the incident remains under investigation.
