Warrant Issued For Fort Wayne Man After Failing To Appear For Court

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — A warrant has been issued for a Fort Wayne man after he failed to appear in court for his second trial on child sexual abuse charges.

Angel Maldonado-Viscaino, 48, faces three counts of child molesting and one count of sexual misconduct with a minor stemming from alleged incidents in 2018.

Court records indicate Maldonado-Viscaino was identified by two children as their alleged abuser after they were brought to the Fort Wayne Police Department to report the incidents.

Maldonado-Viscaino’s first trial began in June but ended in a mistrial. Allen Superior Court Judge David Zent ruled that juror misconduct prevented the jury from being fair and impartial after polling several jurors.

His second trial was scheduled to begin Tuesday. When Maldonado-Viscaino failed to appear, Judge Zent issued a warrant for his arrest.
