Wayne Township settles claim over on-the-job political pressure

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Wayne Township is settling a claim that a Trustee pressured employees into supporting him politically.

The News-Sentinel reports that Democrat Richard Stevenson was accused of pressuring Roosevelt Johnson, the former Director of Building, Grounds, Equipment and Safety, of helping further his political endeavors, including telling Johnson and his coworkers to attend a political event and cheer for Stevenson.

The Township will pay $15,000 to settle the case, with two-thirds of that covered by insurance, without admitting any wrongdoing.

Township attorney Mark GiaQuinta says there was “no merit” to Johnson’s allegations.
