WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) — Whitley County is stepping up its storm prep.

The county’s Emergency Management Agency just received a $5,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation – and they’re using it to buy weather alert radios.

The radios will go to seniors, folks with disabilities, and residents without smartphones – ensuring they get critical alerts during severe weather.

EMA Director Ed Scott says the grant will help protect some of the community’s most vulnerable.
