Winter Weather Preparedness Week Safe Driving Tips Pt. 1

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Governor Mike Pence has proclaimed next week, November 17-23, as Winter Weather Preparedness Week in Indiana. Here's part one of Safe Driving Tips: how to stay safe before you hit the road.

It may seem like common sense, but the Indiana State Police have several tips on how to get ready for winter weather, including reminding drivers to check the forecast before hitting the road and letting someone know your travel route. Keep your gas tank at least half-full. Carry a kit with blankets, a flashlight, batteries, sand, and a first aid kit. Have a cell phone and charger. And of course, slow down on snow and ice covered roads.
