Woman Unharmed In New Haven House Fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  A woman escaped a house fire unharmed thanks to working smoke alarms.

New Haven Adams Township Fire crews arrived to Old Maumee Road around 7:34 p.m. Saturday night after a 911 call.  They found heavy smoke coming from the basement of a house, and also from the upper level windows.  Firefighters note that all six smoke alarms were working, which helped the homeowner exit and call 911 using her emergency alert necklace.

There were no injuries and the fire remains under investigation.
