1800s-Style Craft Village proposed

LAOTTO, Ind (WOWO):  An 1800s-style craft village with cabins and more than a dozen shops is being proposed for a rural site in northeastern Indiana.

Plans for Moose Lake Christian Craft Village call for shops where craftsmakers would work their trades, offering items for sale or lessons in crafts such as pottery, blacksmithing and woodworking.

Doug and Kimberly Jennings own the site near the Noble County community of LaOtto.

Doug Jennings says the village will offer visitors a chance to experience some of what 19th century life was like.

The county plan commission is scheduled to consider the proposal on Aug. 21.

If approved, Jennings said he hopes to open the village next year at the site about 15 miles north of Fort Wayne.
