INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Two Head Start programs in south central Indiana are asking children enrolled in the early childhood education classes to participate in lottery selections that determine who gets to stay.
 
  Head Start programs across the state are expected to lose 5 percent of their funding because of automatic federal spending cuts. The funding is awarded at different times of the year for different programs, so some who have already begun receiving money for 2013 are hurrying to slash budgets in preparation for the cuts.
 
  Two classrooms have been cut from Head Start programs in Columbus and Franklin, which means 36 children won’t be able to return after March 15. Last week, a lottery drawing determined which children would remain the Columbus program. Franklin’s lottery was scheduled for Tuesday.
