4 more tornadoes confirmed in northern Indiana



KINGSFORD HEIGHTS, Ind. (AP): The National Weather Service has confirmed four more tornadoes, all rated EF-1 on the Fujita scale, touched down in northern Indiana during storms earlier this week, bringing the total to 11.



The tornadoes confirmed Friday all touched down before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and were on the ground one to four minutes. One touched down for a quarter mile near the LaPorte County town of Pinhook with winds of 105 mph. Another touched down for nearly five miles near Kingsford Heights.



Another with winds of up to 100 mph touched down in Starke County near South Center. The most powerful had peak winds of 110 mph and touched down near Koontz Lake and remained on the ground for nearly five miles.

All caused damage to structures and trees.
