Coyote gets stuck in vestibule at Valparaiso Kohl’s

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP): A coyote has returned to the wild after getting stuck in a vestibule at a Kohl’s department store in Valparaiso.

Authorities were called to the store at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday when the coyote entered the first set of doors and employees locked a second set of doors, trapping the animal in the vestibule area.

Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officer Nicole Baumann tells The (Munster) Times that the coyote was hiding behind a trash can in a corner of the vestibule when she arrived on the scene. She says the first set of doors was open, but the coyote was scared and didn’t understand it could escape that way.

Baumann and two Valparaiso police officers helped steer the coyote out of the first set of doors.
