Elkhart City Council Advanced Bill Monday

for rent, sign, rental, signboard, for rent, for rent, for rent, for rent, for rent, rental

ELKHART, Ind. (WOWO) — City officials say they aim to ensure safe, healthy housing and hold both landlords and tenants accountable.

Mayor Rod Roberson supports the proposal.

Elkhart currently lacks a rental registry.

Communications Director Alex Otto says a similar effort failed in 2017 due to a lack of landlord input, but this time the city has involved key stakeholders.

The bill will return for a second and third reading at the next council meeting
