Person Killed After Running In Front Of Frontier Airlines Plane

DENVER, Co, (WOWO) – A person who breached security at Denver International Airport was struck and killed by a Frontier Airlines plane during takeoff Friday night, forcing an emergency evacuation.

Airport officials say the individual climbed a perimeter fence and ran onto the runway moments before being hit.

The Frontier flight, headed to Los Angeles, stopped on the runway after reporting an engine fire and smoke in the cabin.

All 224 passengers and seven crew members evacuated using emergency slides.

12 passengers suffered minor injuries, with five taken to hospitals.

Federal investigators are now reviewing the incident, which temporarily shut down one of the airport’s runways.
