FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP): Fort Wayne officials want to hear what the public thinks about a proposal to allow a company to place a 120-foot tall cell tower in a city park.
 
Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll says so far there hasn't been much opposition at neighborhood meetings.
 
GTE Mobilenet wants to place the tower at Bob Arnold Northside Park, near the basketball courts between the pool and the baseball diamonds. GTE Mobilenet will pay the parks department close to $2,000 a month for the first year of a 10-year lease. The amount would increase 2 percent each year of the deal, which can be renegotiated for additional five-year terms.
 
Moll says the money would go toward maintaining the pool and funding scholarships for swim lessons.
