UPDATE: Police Investigate Possible Stabbing

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Police have released new information into a reported stabbing Sunday in Fort Wayne. Officers say the victim, Zaida Townsend, was found in Piqua, Ohio, suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was taken to an Ohio hospital in serious but stable condition. Police say Townsend was taken from her Fort Wayne residence by her estranged husband, 45-year-old Tommy Townsend Sr. to a relative's home in Ohio. Shortly after, according to police, Townsend tried to commit suicide by crashing his vehicle into a parked car. Townsend survived and was arrested by Ohio authorities for Operating While Intoxicated. Fort Wayne police detectives have requested an arrest warrant charging Townsend with several crimes committed in their jurisdiction.

ORIGINAL STORY:

On Sunday, a woman called police from a location on Strathdon Drive, saying she had been stabbed. However, once an officer arrived on the scene, there were no signs of a stabbing or a struggle. Instead the officer spoke with a young man, in his 20’s, who was at the home. When asked where his father was he said he didn't know. He then checked his phone and had several missed calls and texts from his mother. Police were then led to her residence on Lakeside Drive. Once inside her apartment, they found several blood stains throughout the residence.

Upon further investigation detectives discovered that the father has family in Piqua, Ohio. A search warrant has been obtained and officers are still looking for clues.
