Fort Wayne To Reopen Warming Stations

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Warming stations are preparing for another cold snap.

The City of Fort Wayne will reopen a warming station and overnight shelter starting tonight at the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department’s Community Center on 233 W. Main Street. The shelter will open starting at 6 p.m. until 8 a.m. Friday morning for anyone in need of a warm place to stay.

The City of Fort Wayne says they're proactive in providing warming stations. The State of Indiana, through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, selected Fort Wayne as one of four pilot communities to reach chronically homeless individuals and help bring them into permanent housing options.
