NETWORK INDIANA _ An Indiana doctor was arrested Monday and charged with multiple counts of murder in Omaha, Nebraska.
Indiana State Police say 40-year-old Dr. Anthony Garcia of Terre Haute was arrested during a traffic stop Monday in Illinois. He is accused of killing 11-year-old Thomas Hunter and 57-year-old Shirlee Sherman in 2008 as well as Roger Brumback and his wife Mary in May 2013.
In a news conference Monday, Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said Garcia was a resident at the Creighton University pathology department in Omaha from July 2000 to June 2001. He was fired by Roger Brumback and Thomas Hunter‘s father for what Schmaderer described as erratic behavior. Schmaderer added that while Garcia hadn't lived in the Omaha area for 12 years, evidence shows Garcia was in Omaha in 2008 and 2013 when the homicides occurred.
It‘s not known when Garcia will be moved back to Omaha. Indiana State Police investigators assisted detectives from the Omaha Police Department as they searched Garcia‘s home in Terre Haute for evidence in the investigation. The investigation is still ongoing.
