EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A majority of Indiana's school counselors say the growing list of non-counseling duties they must perform is cutting into their work preparing students for college and postsecondary training.

That's according to a new report from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Foundation that also found a majority of school counselors want to spend more time on college and career guidance.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports http://bit.ly/1ktzmWC that more than 400 Indiana counselors, 73 percent of them from high schools, were surveyed for the report.

Fifty-eight percent of them said a quarter or less of their time is spent on college and career readiness activities.

The report also found that since 2010, the amount of time counselors are asked to devote to non-counseling duties has more than doubled.
