FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) The sale of powered alcohol could soon be banned in Indiana.

The bill has passed in both the chambers, and heads back to the Senate for their approval. Under the bill, purchasing, possessing or using powered alcohol would punishable by a fine of up to $1,000. Fort Wayne's Phil GiaQuinta is a co-sponsor of the bill.

He says he's concerned about the impact to underage drinkers and over consumption by those of legal age.

The measure has already passed in the Indiana House. Six states have outlawed powered alcohol and other 23 others are considering it.
