Hearing Set for Man Accused in 1988 Mishawaka Cold Case

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – A northern Indiana man accused in the 1988 killing of a 16-year-old girl is due in court.

WNDU-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1cI5meo ) that Phillips Geans of Mishawaka (mish-ah-WAH'-kuh) has a hearing on Monday. Geans was charged in December 2013 in the shooting death of Mishawaka High School sophomore Theresa Burns. His arrest came nearly 26 years after the teen's death.

Geans was 18 when Burns was shot in her home after leaving school. Police say Geans and Burns knew each other through friends.

Geans' trial is set to begin June 4.
