Indiana Graduation Rates Unchanged from 2012

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): The Indiana Department of Education says the state's high school graduation rates from 2013 are virtually the same as from the year before.

Figures released Wednesday show about 88 percent of students passed their year-end assessments, a tenth of a percentage point lower than 2012.

Higher rates of students attending private schools graduated. About 93 percent from those schools passed compared to the public school average of about 88 percent.

The data show black children were least likely to graduate compared to students of other races. English learners and special education students also were less likely to pass.

About 81 percent of students who did not receive a waiver passed, up about a percentage point from 2012.
