Indiana Man Charged With Murder in Infant’s Disappearance

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Prosecutors have charged an Indianapolis man with murder in the May disappearance of his 3-month-old daughter, who is presumed dead.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced Friday that 45-year-old Jeffrey Fairbanks faces murder and neglect of a dependent resulting in death charges “for the death and disappearance'' of Janna Rivera.

Curry says Fairbanks is also alleged to “have disposed of her body in a way deserved by no one, most certainly not an infant.''

The child was reported missing May 29 by her mother, but her body has not been found.

A probable cause affidavit says when police questioned Fairbanks about the child's location, he led detectives to an apartment complex's dumpster, but the body was not found there.

Fairbanks was scheduled to appear in court Friday on the charges.
