Henry Campaign Response to Harper “Fact-Checking”

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Tom Henry campaign for Mayor is responding to claims of inaccurate and misleading numbers.

Thursday, his Republican challenger, Mitch Harper challenged three key planks in Henry's re-election bid. Harper said independent media sources confirmed his points that crime wasn't down, the city lost thousands of jobs and the Legacy fund wasn't as strong as he presented.

Henry campaign manager Rob Dible says, numbers from the Bureau of Labor of Statistics confirm more than 7,200 jobs have been created since 2012. He added that unemployment in the city has dipped to its lowest levels since 2007.

The Henry campaign says claims of incomplete crime data isn't fair. Dible says it important to compare record-breaking highs in crime in 2013 to record-breaking lows 2014 provide a clear contrast. It's a comparison showing Mayor's response to dealing with crime, was effective.

Dible also says the Legacy fund is set to grow to $80 million by 2025.
