FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is seeking volunteers to help save frogs and toads.

The national project aims to find early signs of pollution and loss of habitat by collecting information on frog and toad populations, according to a news release from the zoo.

FrogWatch USA will train volunteers on frogs and toads. Volunteers will visit ponds, streams and wetlands to observe the amphibians, and their notes will be documented in a national database.

“FrogWatch USA is a chance for you to get involved right here at home,” Kathy Terlizzi, zoo volunteer manager, said.

If you want to participate, you’ll need to attend a training class. The classes will be 11 a.m to 3 p.m. on Feb. 20 and Feb. 27 at the Zoo Education Center, 600 Franke Park Drive, Fort Wayne. They’re open to teens and adults.
