INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Ivy Tech Community College’s board leader says former Indiana Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann is one of two finalists to become the school’s new president.
The Ivy Tech trustees are expected to vote May 18 on a new president for the statewide community college system.

Trustee chairwoman Paula Hughes tells The Indianapolis Star that Ellspermann is “maybe even the top candidate” for the position. Hughes wouldn’t identify the other finalist.

Tennessee technical college system executive James King says he was interviewed for the job last week, but was told he’s no longer being considered.

Ellspermann has been regarded as a leading candidate for Ivy Tech’s presidency since Republican Gov. Mike Pence announced in December that she planned to apply for the position. She resigned as lieutenant governor in March.
