Woodlan High School student arrested after threatening school on social media

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – A 17-year-old Woodlan High School student has been arrested after threats were made towards the high school on social media.

An investigation began on Friday, Oct. 26, after the East Allen County Schools Security Director contacted the Indiana State Police. The director reported a student had received a “story request” via the social media site Snapchat the previous night.

The story, which can feature photos or videos taken by the sender, was described as “taken in a threatening nature.”

Three additional messages were sent by the same sender; two of the messages were sent to a different student. The messages became increasingly threatening towards the high school.

An investigation led the police to a student’s residence in Harlan, where officers conducted an interview with both the student and parents.

The student was arrested and placed in the Allen County Juvenile Center on a preliminary charge of Intimidation, a Level 6 Felony.
