A Syracuse Man Is Dead After A Wednesday Afternoon Train Collision

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office says Stephen D. Schmahl’s car was sitting on the tracks for an unknown reason when it was hit.

Schmahl was the only person in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Our newsgathering partners at 21ALIVE say the impact of the collision pushed the car nearly a mile.

The crash remains under investigation.
