KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): An Akron man died after his truck was hit by a train Wednesday night.

Joseph A. Kimmel, 40, died from blunt force trauma, according to the Kosciusko County Deputy Coroner.

At about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, crews were called to a railroad crossing near the intersection of State Road 25 and State Road 19. Kimmel was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe his truck was turning southbound onto State Road 19 when it went off the paved portion of the crossing and got stuck on the train track rails. A Norfolk Southern freight train hit the pickup truck.
