Allen County Coroner’s office identifies 45th homicide victim

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 20-year-old Fort Wayne man was shot to death on Monday night.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office said Romeo Kamale Cansler died from a gunshot wound and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. He is the 45th homicide victim in Allen County this year. This ties the 2013 record for homicides in Allen County.

Fort Wayne police say shots were fired around 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28 in the 6100 block of Holgate Drive near Hessen Cassel Road.

Someone called police after they heard a loud bang and saw a man running from the area. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle.

Cansler was hospitalized in critical condition. But, he was later pronounced dead.

The shooting is still under investigation.
