FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of a woman who was shot and killed during a standoff on Wednesday.

The Fort Wayne Police Department officers were called to Parkview Studios Wednesday afternoon to assist with a barricaded subject. Reports say 66-year-old Patricia Hepworth of Fort Wayne had a felony parole violation warrant and was armed with a knife inside the apartment.

Officers made multiple attempts to contact her and to de-escalate the situation, but they ended up firing shots and striking Hepworth.

She was pronounced dead at the scene with her death ruled a homicide by police-action shooting.

Hepworth had been found guilty of attempted murder and arson in 1999.

The names of the officers involved in the incident will be released on a later date.
