FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The sheriff and county prosecutor of Allen County will be discussing a possible needle exchange program with the county health board next month.

A task force that’s been assembled made the decision to invite Sheriff David Gladieux and Prosecutor Karen Richards to next month’s Fort Wayne Allen County Board of Health meeting next month, according to the Journal-Gazette.

Both Gladieux and Richards feel participants should get testing for HIV and Hepatitis C and also be required to turn in a dirty needle for a clean one.

The health department wants to provide more needles than are being turned in if they feel it’s needed.

So far, there’s been no consensus on how to approach a needle exchange.
