Amazon Confirms Expansion in Central Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Online retail giant Amazon has confirmed plans to open two new fulfillment centers in central Ohio.

The large facilities in the suburban Columbus village of Obetz, and in Etna, east of Columbus, will be the Seattle-based company's first fulfillment centers in the state of Ohio. Amazon officially announced the plans Wednesday, although Ohio officials have been talking about the company's expansion in the state since last summer.

Amazon and state officials said the new facilities will lead to the creation of around 2,000 new jobs in the region.

In July, the state's Tax Credit Authority approved a 75 percent, 15-year tax credit for the projects.

Amazon didn't provide a timeline for developing the sites.
