Annual downtown window decorating contest kicks off

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The holiday season is right around the corner, and the Downtown Improvement District is looking for local businesses to take part in the downtown window decorating contest.

The theme for 2018 is “Downtown Holiday Jukebox”, according to our partners in news at ABC 21.

Businesses should pick their favorite holiday tune, and create a display that pays tribute to the song.

The Downtown Improvement Districts says window decorators should have their displays completed by the night before Thanksgiving, during the annual Night of Lights event.

Beginning that night, Fort Wayne citizens can vote for their favorite displays online through December 10.

In addition to the People’s Choice Award, participants can win in three other categories: Most Thematic, Best at Night and Most Fort Wayne.

The winners for these categories will be determined by a committee of non-participants. Winners will be announced on December 15, and will receive a picture of their window featured in the Journal Gazette.

The People’s Choice winner will receive a DeBrand prize package, and will be the featured window in all promotions for the contest next year.
