Authorities Consider More Charges in Death of 3-Year-Old

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): More charges could be filed against a couple after a three-year-old girl was declared brain dead.

The Marion County Coroner‘s Office says Amabel Calderon was pronounced dead on Christmas day, but that she was being kept alive on a ventilator so her organs could be harvested for donation. Indianapolis police say the girl was brought to Methodist Hospital earlier this week with injuries that were consistent with child abuse.

So far, the girl‘s mother, Maria Calderon, 24, and the woman‘s boyfriend Freddie Bailey, 24, faced charges of neglect of a dependent, with Bailey being charged with battery, but those charges could be upgraded due to the girl‘s death.
