FOWLER, Ind. (AP) _ A coroner has identified remains found in the backyard of a northwestern Indiana home as those of a missing Florida woman.
The Fowler Police Department said Thursday the Benton County coroner's office used DNA tests to confirm the remains are those of 68-year-old Nena Metoyer of Dunedin, Florida. The department says the investigation of her death continues.
Metoyer had traveled to Fowler in August to care for her ailing daughter, 49-year-old Teresa Jarding. Jarding died from a drug overdose Sept. 25, one day after she was found near death in her home about 70 miles south of Gary.
About two weeks after Jarding's death, her ex-husband's dismembered remains were found inside his suburban Chicago garage. An autopsy showed Milan Lekich died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
