Boy Rescued from Indiana Sand Dune Moving Arms and Legs

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (AP) _ The grandfather of a 6-year-old Illinois boy who was buried for hours at a northern Indiana sand dune says he is responsive and able to move his arms and legs.

Nathan Woessner of Sterling has been in critical condition at Comer Children's Hospital in Chicago since soon after being rescued Friday at the dune known as Mount Baldy in the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore near Michigan City.

The Rev. Don Reul tells The Daily Gazette of Sterling that doctors are working to remove sand from his grandson's lungs. A prayer vigil was held Sunday at First Baptist Church in Galva, where Reul is the senior pastor.

A hospital spokeswoman says Nathan's grandfather and one of his doctors will speak at a news conference in Chicago on Monday.
