Business Park Proposed at Former Site of Muncie Factory

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): Land once occupied by a factory would be redeveloped as a business park under a proposal being pitched to Muncie officials.

South Carolina businessman Gary Dannar wants to anchor the development at the former Indiana Steel and Wire site with an assembly plant for his rolling power vehicles. He will ask the Muncie Industrial Revolving Loan Fund board for a $450,000 loan to launch the project.

The project also would feature a new greenway trailhead that includes a historic bridge from the Albany area, a bridge to carry vehicles over White River and housing redevelopment to the east of the property.

Construction could begin in 2016 if the project wins approval.
