FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Another step forward on a possible downtown arena for Fort Wayne.

The Allen County-Fort Wayne Capital Improvement Board of Managers announced they’ve issued a request for proposal for the purpose of choosing an architectural and engineering firm to develop plans and estimate the cost of building an arena downtown.

Mayor Tom Henry has been looking to add an arena to the area to act as a spot for events too big for the Embassy Theater but too small for the Memorial Coliseum. A committee set up to look at the viability of a downtown arena gave it their recommendation last March.

Qualified firms interested in submitting a proposal need to do so by August 1.
