City of Fort Wayne Named in Discrimination Suit

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): The Indiana Civil Rights Commission has leveled discrimination charges against four Indiana employers, and one of them is the City of Fort Wayne.

The ICRC alleges a city worker took a new position, only to have it eliminated for budget concerns two months into the new role. Then months later the position was reopened and given to another worker as part of settlement from another employment lawsuit.

The commission maintains the worker who was released, was more qualified then the worker who was later placed in the position.

City Spokesman John Perlich told WOWO News, “we respectfully disagree with decision by the commission.”

Belterra Casino in Florence, Forge Industrial Staffing in Indianapolis and United Auto Workers Local 5 are also targeted.

All cases involve employees being harassed or terminated because of race, national origin or disabilities.
