Columbus Misses Out on All-American City Honors

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) _ The central Indiana city of Columbus has fallen short in its bid to again be named an All-American city.

The National Civic League selected Columbus as one of 25 finalists for the award, which honors 10 cities each year. Columbus won the award in 1994.

Mayor Kristen Brown tells The Republic that many of the cities selected as this year's winners have confronted much tougher challenges than Columbus.

Brown headed a delegation to Denver over the weekend for the selection process, with the city's application focusing on workforce development, the arts and health.
